I have a confession to make…. I’ve been lazy!
Yes, I’ve been lazy lately. Well, just recently I have been. April hasn’t been a great month for me since I started off with the stomach bug! It lasted about a week. I was well for a week until I had bronchitis right after. I’m still recovering from it but, I thought I share something that I found myself struggling with a lot and that is…
Other than the fact I’ve been ill for most of the month, I did feel lazy. I didn’t want to clean, cook, blog, or even read my bible. Matter of fact, I didn’t do any of those things.
Laziness has taken such a hold on me that I decided to cut it off. It’s okay to be lazy for a day from all the hard work you’ve put into things. But what about your spirit? Have you been too lazy to read your bible? Or even attend to church?
Being lazy in spirit can lead a life of failure and misery. No one ever wants to feel like a failure in life and no one wants to live a life of misery.
So, how you can tell if your spirit has been lazy? Here are some questions to ask yourself to know if your spirit is lazy or not.
Have you read God’s word today?
Most of us have a busy schedule that how in the world can our spirit be lazy? In our busy lives, we are driven to get things done. Very few things that do get done are meaningless in our lives yet, they need to get done. Reading God’s Word daily can help wake up that spirit and give your busy day something to look forward to. Just 10 minutes out of your day can help you.
Have you prayed?
Prayer can go a long way. It’s our way of communicating with God. Find time in your day to talk to God. Even if it’s a 5-minute prayer walking across the busy traffic. God loves to hear you.
Have you thanked God?
It always seems on Thanksgiving, we like to thank the Lord, Our Savior for our life and the food on the table. When things don’t seem to fall into place or you can’t seem to see things through, give thanks to God anyway. Give thanks to Him for waking you up today and for whatever tasks you have been given. God always gives and I’m sure He doesn’t get much “Thank You”.
Have you worshiped God?
When we’re lazy, we like some peace and quiet or maybe just go off to sleep. Wake up your spirit with some Christian music! Get your blood flowing to worshipping Our Lord and Savior. In the bible, it says God is Spirit and so we must worship God in our spirit (John 4:24).
So, why am I saying all of this? Well, not only to wake up your lazy spirit but to realize that even though we may get caught up in this world, we can’t let our spirit be lazy. When your spirit is lazy, things don’t come out the way you want them to. You don’t feel God around you or even listening to you.
It may seem like a lot of hard-work to add God to our already busy lives but, He’s the one who gave us breath in our lives to live this busy life. It is more than fair to give Him attention.
So, when you want to feel lazy from the real world, don’t be lazy in your spirit. I understand that we can have a day of rest but, reading God’s Word is not even hard-work. Don’t let your spirit wander off. Stay in contact with God.
God is everywhere. God will always be everywhere. However, it is up to you to wake up your spirit and connect with Him. Read the Word, pray, worship and thank God for everything He has done. You can be lazy but, don’t let your spirit be lazy.
